Asia Cup Cricket Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka 2014

Round-robin stage

Sri Lanka hammer Afghanistan, reach final

Afghanistan, who steamrolled over Bangladesh in their last match suffered a batting collapse against Sri Lanka to succumb to a 129-run defeat in the seventh game of the tournament. Chasing a daunting target of 254 runs, Afghanistan's lower and the middle-order batsmen couldn't live up to the pressure and kept losing wickets at regular intervals to go down to Four-time champions Sri Lanka who scored a challenging 253/6 with in-form Kumar Sangakkara hitting a solid 76. Sri Lanka moved into the final of the Asia Cup cricket tournament with this win, which diminished India's hopes of entering the final.
Sri Lanka 253/6 (Sangakkara 76, Mathews 45*) beat Afghanistan 124 (Mendis 3-11, Thisara 3-29) by 129 runs
