CAN v ZIM, T20 Match 3: Zimbabwe beat Canada in bowl-out
Oct 11, 2008
Zimbabwe scored a 3-1 bowl out victory over Canada after the scores were deadlocked at 135.
Canada blew an excellent opportunity of scoring an upset when substitute Abzal Dean's misfield running in from the mid-wicket boundary went for four and allowed Zimbabwe to move within two runs of their target off the last ball.
Trinidad & Tobago-born Dean was on the field for vice-captain Abdool Samad who was unwell.
Wicketkeeper/batsman Tatenda Taibu led Zimbabwe in scoring with 37 off 38 balls to clinch the Man of the Match award. He also featured in three dismissals behind the wicket, but missed two stumping opportunities off left-arm spinner Ray Price.
Canadian medium pacer Harvinder Baidwan, who picked up two wickets off of the first two balls of the final over to give his team a chance of their first win in the tournament, finished with 3-27 off four overs while all-rounder Rizwan Cheema took 2-19 after being Canada's top run producer with a lightning knock of 23 off 11 balls with two sixes and two boundaries.
