Dec 9, 2006Bangladesh Cricket team led by Habibul Bashar whitewashed the visiting Zimbabwe Cricket team 5-0 when the hosts composed a hard-fought three-wicket victory over the touring African side in the fifth and final One Day International (ODI) match at the crowd-packed Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.
Winning the toss Bangladesh decided to field first and restricted the visiting Zimbabwe to 193 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. In reply, Bangladesh reached the winning target scoring 194 for the loss of seven wickets when they had just six balls to spare.

It proved an easy task for the home side in Mirpur after Zimbabwe were bowled for just 146. Paceman Mashrafe bin Mortaza was the pick of their attack with 3-14. And Aftab Ahmed finished things off with four sixes in an unbeaten 58 as Bangladesh delighted a 45,000 crowd by making 147-2 with 17.4 overs to spare.

Bangladesh to play against Zimbabwe for victory today
Dec 8, 2006Bangladesh National Cricket team led by Habibul Bashar will take on the visiting Zimbabwe team today in the fourth One Day International (ODI) match of the five-match Aktel ODI Series.
Bangladesh team have already wrap up the series as the tigers have an unassailable 3-0 lead. Before todays match, Bangladesh team faced Zimbabwe team 27 times. Bangladesh won 10 times while Zimbabwe recorded 17 wins. Meanwhile, the selectors of Bangladesh team have included wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim in the squad instead of Tushar Imran.
Chief Selector Faruque Ahmed said, Wicketkeepers is a specialist role and one needs match practice to improve is performance. So we have decided to give chance Rahim in the ensuing two ODIs. Skipper Habibul Bashar said that they wanted not only the series win but to win all the matches. Bashar added that after winning all the ODIs, the tigers wanted to show that they were forward than the African side. Bashar also added that the bowlers and the batsmen of Bangladesh were in a good form. So Bangladesh could whitewash Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, Bangladesh team and Zimbabwe team took part in their practice session at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday. The stadium is prepared to stage the first ever ODI in the ground.

Dec 6, 2006Abdur Razzak turned in an excellent performance of left-arm spin as Bangladesh clinched a 26-run win against Zimbabwe at Bogra to take an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series on Tuesday. Sean Williams scored 68, his highest ODI score, but none of the other batsmen offered much support as Razzaq struck repeatedly to finish with 5 for 33, his first five-for in ODIs.
Put into bat, openers Shariar Nafees and Mehrab Hossain jr, who shared 104 in Sunday's second match, quickly notched 64 within the first 10 overs. All but skipper Habibul Bashar of the leading batsmen got a start, but there was no major score in 220 all out.

Bangladesh wants to ensure ODI series

"Our aim is to clinch the series and we want to confirm it by winning the third match Tuesday," said Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar after a practice session Monday. It has been an easy ride for the hosts who won the first one-day international (ODI) in Khulna by nine wickets and the second by six wickets in Bogra. The Tigers are going into the crucial match keeping on mind that the Africans will desperately try to stay in the series by winning the game. Zimbabwean captain Prosper Utseya saw no alternative to winning the match and keeping the series alive.

Dec 3, 2006Two useful half centuries by Shahriar Nafees and Mehrab Hossain Jr inspired Bangladesh to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match Aktel Bangladesh-Zimbabwe ODI Series beating Zimbabwe by six wickets in the day-night 2nd ODI match at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) here on Sunday.
National vice-captain Shahriar Nafees, who scored unbeaten 105 in the first ODI, contributed match highest 67 runs while teenage opener Mehrab Jr made his maiden ODI fifty (54), guiding Bangladesh to score match-winning 218 for 4 in 42.2 overs after restricting Zimbabwe at 217 runs for 7 in 50 overs. The match marks a special day for Enamul Huq Moni, the left-arm test spinner, as he made his debut today as umpire in the international cricket. After having a 2-0 lead, Bangladesh will take on Zimbabwe in the 3rd day-night ODI also at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra on Tuesday.

Nov 30, 2006An unbeaten ton by vice-captain Shahriar Nafees enabled Bangladesh to take 1-0 lead in the first of the five-match Aktel Bangladesh-Zimbabwe ODI Series beating the visitors by nine wickets at the Bir Srestho Ft. Lt. Matiur Rahman Stadium in Khulna Thursday.
Left-handed opener Shahriar Nafees remained unbeaten on 105 playing 138 balls that featured 13 fours and a six to register his 3rd consecutive ODI century, all against Zimbabwe, and was later adjudged man of the match. Right-handed Aftab Ahmed Chowdhury also remained unbeaten on 60 as Bangladesh reached their target scoring 186 runs in 45.3 overs for the loss of one wicket after restricting the visitors at 184 for 9 in 50 overs.

Nov 28, 2006Mashrafe Mortaza top scored with 36 and then took a wicket as Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 43 runs in their inaugural Twenty20 match in Khulna on Tuesday.
Man of the match Mortaza smashed two fours and two sixes in his 26-ball knock to push Bangladesh to 166. Zimbabwe off spinner Prosper Utseya took three wickets for 25 runs. Zimbabwe slumped to 25 for three thanks to wickets for Mortaza and Shahadat Hossain, who finished with 2-22.
Knocks of 35 from Hamilton Masakadza, including four boundaries and a six, and 38 from Sean Williams with two fours and two sixes, helped steady things but Zimbabwe lost their last five wickets for 19 runs to finish on 123 for nine in their 20 overs. Left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak took three for 15 runs. The two teams will play five one-day internationals, starting on Thursday in Khulna.
