 The Indian Premier League, formed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in response to Zee's Indian Cricket League (ICL) is scheduled to start in April 2008 with 59 matches spread over 44 days on a home-and-away basis. Two matches will be scheduled each day under lights with play beginning at 5 p.m. Prize money for the Indian Premier League will be US $3 million.

 The Champions Twenty20 League, formed with the official sanction of ICC will kick off in October 2008. Eight domestic teams from four nations will participate. Cricket Australia will partner the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket South Africa (CSA). The champion team in the Champions Twenty20 league will get US $5 million, which is the highest ever prize money for a cricket event.

 Zee Telefilms announced on April 3rd 2007 the plans to create a new ambitious cricket league in India, the Indian Cricket League (ICL). With a prize money of $ 1 million for the winner it would initially be comprised of six teams to be expanded to 16 in three years. All the major cricket boards including BCCI India and PCB Pakistan have threatened players with a lifetime ban if they align with the ICL.
